Ford Edge gets the ST Treatment

The Ford Edge has been a classic since its debut in 2006. Nearly 13 years later, the Edge is finally getting the upgrade it deserves. In addition to Ford’s standard features, including enhanced active park assist, adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, and adaptive steering, the new Edge ST is more powerful with increased horsepower and Ford’s eight-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Boasting a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, the 2019 Edge ST outmatches any previous models.

Enhanced With Sport Mode

There are five key ways in which the ST trim changes how we have come to know the Edge. With an all digital cluster display, Sport mode will change your speedometer from the standard blue tachometer to a red tachometer that displays a gear indicator. Active noise control makes for a more engaging engine note in the cabin, while engine braking allows for a more responsive driving experience.

The Transmission

What really sets the ST trim apart is the transmission. With Ford’s eight-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, there are two more gears that provide more power. Upshifts allow for fast gear changes that will maximize vehicle acceleration, and rev-matching only helps to raise the engine speed. Additionally, intuitive algorithms will adjust based on your driving style and road conditions, and paddle shifters allow for complete control over the transmission. By simply pressing the “S,” you can watch your Edge transform into a performance SUV that can handle the roughest terrain, unpredictable weather, and increased speed.

In addition to a revamped engine and transmission that are enhanced with Sport mode, the Edge will also be the first SUV to include Ford’s revolutionary technology, the Ford Co-Pilot 360. This is an advanced driver-assist technology package that includes rear-view camera, a blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, a lane keeping system, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Edge ST is sure to become the new standard in performance crossover SUVs. Keep an eye out at your Winter Haven Area Ford dealership, Bartow Ford, for this model.
